Keep the Yard Looking Its Best All Summer
Along with the great summer weather comes numerous outdoor jobs that have to be done. It takes a lot of work to keep your lawn and the outside of your home appearing it’s best. Some things can be done seasonally, but many jobs need to be done on a weekly basis.
Your lawn and landscaping requires more time than any other external job. It’s the first impression that people have of your home and you want it to look nice. Applying fertilizer to your lawn will make it grow thicker and have a much nicer green color. Regular cutting and trimming will also assist.
Creating flower beds in your yard can increase the beauty of your home. But, they also produce areas where weedeaters often can’t be put to use. Adding landscaping pebbles will eliminate the hours that you’ll need to spend weeding flowers. They can also add a finished look to your lawn edge and can be purchased in various colors.
To protect your deck it should be given a thorough clean at least once during the. Foliage that are stuck in cracks can stay dampand cause rot and should be cleaned out. A pressure washer is the best method to completely clean any debris that has gotten trapped. If the surface is worn, refinish the deck and paint on a moisture resistant coating.
Solar lights are basically care free additions to your garden. The only looking after they need is an occassional cleaning. Light coverings should be taken off and cleaned to remove dirt and dust. And, any debris should be removed.
The outside of your house should be inspected every summer and any cracks or loose pieces of siding or bricks should be repaired. Rain leaking behind any loose bits of siding or cracked bricks will cause the wood foundation to quickly rot. Mould or marks can be removed with preprietary products, or often simply with soap and water.
If you are a swimming pool owner the water must be tested every 7 days. Keeping the chemical balance in the pool at the recommended level will maintain the water free of bacteria and safe for your family. And, the summer heat will cause the bacteria and germs to grow faster so don’t miss this task.
While it may be OK to allow your external summer tasks fall behind now and then, don’t let them lapse for too long. Things that are not done in a timely manner take much longer to complete when you do get around to it. And, summer time is for making the most of the yard with your family, not toiling all the time.
